Skype

Skype is software for making calls over Internet (VoIP), founded in 2003 by Niklas Zennström Swedish and Danish Janus Friis, creators of Kazaa. The code and protocol of Skype remain closed and proprietary, but interested users can download the free application from the official site. Skype users can talk freely among themselves.

Protocol

Skype uses a proprietary protocol. Its success lies in the high compression it practically without affecting the quality of voice transmission.
